The Safety Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) suite of schemes have been developed in collaboration with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines.

The SHEA Telecommunications scheme is designed for individuals who require access to operational sites within the telecommunications industry, both         permanent and temporary, at all levels including operatives, supervisors and Management.

The SHEA Telecommunications scheme consists of 7 modules – Modules 1-6 from SHEA Core which are relevant for all utility industries and support workplace practice in relation to health, safety and environmental law. Module 17 is
specific to the UK Telecommunications Industry. It is designed to provide evidence that an individual has demonstrated an appropriate level of knowledge, understanding and behavioural awareness.

The course covers 7 modules SHEA Core Modules

  • Module 1 Understanding our workplace responsibilities
  • Module 2 Understanding the effects of our work on the environment
  • Module 3 Identifying and controlling risks
  • Module 4 Common hazards and controls in the workplace
  • Module 5 Occupational health hazards
  • Module 6 Responding to emergencies
SHEA Telecommunications
  • Module 17 Working safely underground, in the highway and overhead

 

Prerequisites

This course requires individuals to complete a multiple-choice theory test. There are no formal entry requirements and Locktel Academy will not restrict access on the grounds of prior academic attainment, age, employment, or any other grounds, thereby promoting equality. It is expected that learners will have a level
of literacy adequate to cope with the theory assessment.
