
NRSWA Unit 01 - SLG - Signing, Lighting and Guarding
The NRSWA Unit O1 - Signing, Lighting, and Guarding course is a one-day training program focused on the safe setup of signage, lighting, and guarding in street works areas. Ideal for operatives responsible for maintaining safe work zones, this course provides hands-on training from experienced instructors.
About This Course
Set out temporary traffic management to provide signing, safety zones, walkways, traffic lanes, temporary traffic lights and Stop/Go.
Knowledge is assessed by multiple choice examination.

The pass mark is 80%.
The candidate must be able to:
- Carry out an on-site risk assessment to identify hazards and risks with the intended site.
- State the action required to minimise risk and ensure a safe system of work.
- Provide a detailed plan for an intended site, showing all distances and dimensions in accordance with the Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice.
- Provide an equipment list for the intended site.
- Select and confirm suitability of equipment.
- Set out advance warning signs, safety zones, traffic lanes, temporary traffic lights and pedestrian walkways in a specified sequence.
- Demonstrate the testing, alteration of timings and commissioning temporary traffic signals.
- Set out and remove provision for Stop/Go traffic control.
- Remove temporary traffic management in a specified sequence.
- Demonstrate use of personal protective equipment and good working practices in the setting out and taking down of temporary traffic management.
